Otter Nonsense

Privacy policy

Effective date: October 17, 2026

Otter Nonsense is made by fakewaffle, llc, a Utah company (“we”). This policy describes how the game handles your data. The short version: the game has no account, no ads, no tracking and no purchases. When you play online, it uses a server we run to list games and connect players, and that server keeps as little as it can.

No account

Otter Nonsense does not ask you to sign up or log in. It has no chat: players cannot type or speak to each other in the game.

No advertising, analytics or tracking

The game contains no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and it does not use your device’s advertising identifier. It has no in-app purchases.

Data that stays on your device

Your characters, your camp, your fish log, your settings and the rivers the game has stored, including any a host sent you in an online game, are saved on your device. The game also keeps a random number for this install, and a list of the games you joined before so you can find them again. Deleting the game deletes all of this.

Online co-op

Playing online is optional. When you host a game, the game lists it on a server we run, so friends can find it. The listing holds your character’s name, which the game builds from its own word list, the river, the boat, the free seats, your platform and the game version. Anyone who opens the games list can see it. The server keeps listings only in memory, and a listing disappears within a minute of the host leaving.

To connect, the server passes connection details between the players’ devices, which include their network addresses, so they can talk to each other directly. When a direct connection is not possible, a relay we run carries the game traffic between them. The other players in your game see your character and what you do in the game. The server’s own log records the address a host connects from only in shortened form, so it does not point to one home, and it never publishes it.

Diagnostic logs

The game writes a log of its own technical messages on your device. Release versions of the game do not send it to us.

Steam and Apple

On Steam, you get and update the game through Steam, under the Steam privacy policy. The game does not use Steam Cloud, Steam achievements or any other Steam feature. On iPhone and iPad, it does not use iCloud or Game Center.

Deleting your data

Children

Otter Nonsense has no chat, no typed names, no ads, no purchases and no account, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. A hosted online game is visible on the public games list, with the character name the game made.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update it here and change the effective date above.
