Pocket 68k recreates the hardware of a 68k graphing calculator on iPhone: the processor, memory, screen and keys. It works with the TI-89 and TI-89 Titanium operating systems. No calculator OS comes with the app, so you add your own, from a backup of a calculator you own. Keypad skins change the look.

hello@fakewaffle.comBefore you write
- What is Pocket 68k? A graphing calculator emulator. The calculator’s operating system (OS) is what makes it a calculator. It belongs to the calculator’s maker, so we can’t ship it, and you add it yourself.
- Where do I get the OS? From a backup of a calculator you own. We don’t include one, sell one or link to one, and the app never downloads anything. Connect your calculator to a computer, use a link program to save the calculator’s operating system to a file, then move the file to your iPhone with Files, AirDrop or Mail. In Pocket 68k, tap IMPORT and pick the file, or open the file anywhere and choose Pocket 68k from the Share menu.
- Which files work? OS files ending in .89u or .tib, or a full .rom backup of your calculator. A .rom backup stays on your phone. Once your calculator is running, you can send it your programs the same way. Keypad skins end in .pkt68k.
- How do I add games and programs?
- Download the program on your iPhone and unzip it in Files.
- Turn the calculator on and go to HOME.
- Open each calculator file (.89z, .89p or .89y) with Pocket 68k, or tap IMPORT in the app’s menu. It’s sent over the virtual link.
- Check VAR-LINK (2nd, then −) and run it as its readme says.
- The calculator won’t start? The OS file is most likely for a different model, or the backup is incomplete or damaged. Try saving the backup from your calculator again. A start that fails doesn’t use any days of your trial.
- How do the trial and the unlock work? Pocket 68k is free to download. Start the free 7-day trial in the app; the 7 days begin the first time your calculator turns on, not when you start the trial. After that, unlock it once to keep using the calculator. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, and nothing renews. Importing files and keypad skins are always free.
- New iPhone, or reinstalled the app? Tap Restore Purchases in the app, signed in to the same Apple Account you bought with.
- A refund or a billing question? Apple handles App Store purchases. You can ask Apple for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
- How do keypad skins work? A skin is a .pkt68k file that changes how the keys and the case look. Import it like an OS file, then choose it under SKINS. The default skin is always there.
- Can’t find the menu while the calculator is running? Swipe sideways on the calculator screen.
- How do I add it to Control Center? On iOS 18 or later, open Control Center, tap +, then Add a Control, and pick Pocket 68k.
It helps if you tell us your iPhone model, iOS version, the kind of file you imported and what you were doing when the problem happened. Please never send OS files, passwords or payment information.
What changed in each update is on the release notes page. How we handle your data is in the privacy policy.
